Going to the Intel Developer Forum? Join Climate Savers Computing at a power management roundtable!
The momentum for driving more energy efficient software continues!
We’re holding our second roundtable focusing on helping to ensure seamless interaction between power management and software applications on Wednesday, September 14 in conjunction with the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco.
CSCI’s IDF2011 event will build on the momentum established at our first roundtable that took place on July 26 at the IEEE Green Computing Conference in Orlando. This is where software designers/developers came together to share best practices, point out “worst” practices, and identify tools and information that will help make the creation of power management-friendly software easier.
We established the roundtables after our Power Management Workgroup learned that various applications may be interfering with how power management performs on PCs and networked computers, resulting in a software-induced insomnia for PCs. Based on this information, we announced a global – and ongoing — call for action to gather specific input and to discuss potential action items for how to best address pressing issues.
At IDF2011, we’ll continue the discussions, expand on the work done at last month’s IEEE Green Computing Conference and review new opportunities for collaboratively improving energy efficient software. The Power Management Workgroup will gather ideas, input and requests stemming from the roundtable and work collaboratively to develop new ways for ensuring power management and software applications can always work together.
So if you’re a developer or system architect heading to IDF2011, we’d like to hear from you. Send me an e-mail at [email protected] or DM me on Twitter at @gogoodman and we’ll discuss how you can receive an invitation to this important roundtable.
The September 14 event will run from 5:00pm – 7:30pm, with a meet-and-greet with cocktails and refreshments starting at 5:00 in the Twin Peaks Room at the Intercontinental Hotel, 888 Howard Street, San Francisco, across the street from Moscone West where IDF2011 is being held. The roundtable will run from 5:30 – 7:30pm
