June 3, 2010

NEWPORT BEACH, Cal., June 3, 2010—Sparxent’s Verismic Software today announced that it has joined Climate Savers Computing Initiative. The initiative is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing power consumption of IT equipment. Together, Verismic and the other industry-leading members of the initiative will work to increase the adoption of energy-efficient IT equipment and increase awareness and use of computer power management.

“More and more companies are working to implement sustainable solutions throughout their organizations,” said Lorie Wigle, president of Climate Savers Computing Initiative and general manager of the Eco-Technology Program Office for Intel Corporation. “An important part of these efforts is reducing the energy used by information technology through solutions such as power management. Verismic Software is already in the business of developing computer power management solutions for its customers, so their partnership with Climate Savers Computing is a natural fit and clearly demonstrates their commitment to reducing the energy consumption of IT equipment.”

“Verismic Software is dedicated to providing power management technologies to our customers”, said Mark McGinn, managing director of Verismic. “We are excited to be a part of the Climate Savers Computing and are passionate about working together with other members to help significantly reduce carbon emissions across the IT industry.”

By the end of its fourth program year, Climate Savers Computing Initiative’s goal is to reduce global computer CO2 emissions by 54 million tons per year, which is equivalent to the annual output of 11 million cars or 10 to 20 coal-fired power plants.

Sparxent Verismic Software is committed to ensuring all organizations have the ability and flexibility to manage their PC energy consumption, creating the industries first hosted PC power management solution. Hosted Power Manager allows organizations to take control of their PC power consumption with no infrastructure costs and monthly payments.

As a member of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative, Verismic is committed to reducing energy consumption from a majority of its computing equipment by:

  • Pledging to purchase high-efficiency computer equipment that meets or exceeds Energy Star ratings;
  • Optimizing existing computer systems to use power management capabilities, such as hibernation and sleep modes; and
  • Ensuring in subsequent years they purchase computing equipment with increasing levels of efficiency.
